First of all, let me start by saying that your suggestion of a 100 words or less should be eliminated. You should welcome any and all comments, no matter what people have to say about your company good or bad. Secondly, after reading about twenty comments I would not admit that I work for Steak & Shake. It's clear to me that there is a major problem with upper management. I have worked several years in sales and marketing to notice a problem. Now the big question is what you do about it. If nothing, your comments will continue to give the company a bad name, and your sales will decline. (Your Choice) Actually my main purpose before I read the comments was to make a suggestion on the menu but that all changed. I hope I made your 100 word request. Have A Nice Day.

Our order was wholly messed up. I ordered a burger and was charged for the combo, but didn't get my fries. My wife ordered a Chocolate Oreo Shake but only got a normal chocolate shake. We waited in the drive thru for 18 minutes just to get to the window. When we asked for our correct food, we received only attitude and teenage angst in response. Eventually, after almost everything went wrong and we had been waiting 30 minutes in the drive thru, it was past close. The "manager" came to the window (she was maybe 18) and said, "we already shut everything down and would have to turn it all on again to get you your fries. Do you want to wait?" I responded "yes," and she rolled her eyes. I could see her talking badly about us through the drive thru window. When I asked for a receipt, i was given a piece of paper that was impossible to read. I assume the printer ink was out, but I have no way of verifying that I was charged the correct amount and I assume I was not. Over $15 for two burgers and fries and one small shake seemed wrong. The fries they made fresh were ok but the other set of fries were literally inedible. Never going back to this *** hole.

Evansville Indiana I had same issues with the Stake and Shake here, Twice in a role I had the same issue. When I called second time to let the manager know I was told there was a new worker so I asked if it was the same new worker from last time it happened and got no response!!

Very poorly managed

Locations on Olive near 141 in West St Louis county, on Dorsett at 270, and at Page/Ashby. I have worked near Westport Plaza for the last 12 years and I've been a fan of Steak n Shake since I was a kid. In the late 80's and early 90's, I was a Store Manager at multiple locations in North St Louis county including what was the training store at the time near Northwest Plaza. With that said, I have to tell you that I have not been able to have a single good experience at any of the three locations listed in several years. The responsibility must fall with the management team hear in St Louis because I never seem to have a problem in St Charles or near my home in South St Louis County. If these locations were properly managed, most of the employees at all three locations would need to be replaced. Servers that are unable to write down my order correctly, line workers that prepare the food incorrectly, dirty stores in disrepair, bad attitudes, and the list goes on. I'm tired of being offered a free meal every single time I try to eat lunch at one of these locations due to the poor food quality and poor service, I only want my order to be prepared correctly and be served to me timely... I don't want it free, I want it correct! I started eating lunch at the Page/Ashby location 12 years ago and while Bill Degonia was managing, I never had a single problem. Soon after he left, I noticed the service times taking considerably longer, then incorrect orders each time I visited. I decided to try a different location nearby at Dorsett and 270. I had lunch at this location at least 10 or 15 times over a years period, and every single time I had a problem with extremely long cook times, incorrect orders, etc. just like at Page/Ashby. After having a change to the location of my office, I was closer to the Olive/141 location so I decided to try there. For the first two months or so, myself and three coworkers visited this location weekly on Friday to find perfect food and service every single time. We left large tips and we complemented the Store Manager on his well run location on multiple visits... until one Friday when we visited about 2 years ago, we had a slight problem with the amount of time our order took. Since it was a holiday weekend and the store was pretty busy, we cut them a break. The manager cashed us out and apologized for the long wait, we said not a problem and that we understood. Then he said something that I found interesting, he said "things are going to get much better around here now that I'm the new manager, cause I'm bringing in some "heavy hitters"..." Well from that day on we have not had a decent visit. We still attempt to eat lunch there once in a while on a Friday but usually decide to go elsewhere due to the history of poor service and incorrect meals. Honestly, how hard is it to get the order of a 4 person table correct? The last three times, including today.. we attempted to visit and ended up walking out due to the server not writing down out orders correctly, coming back to the table 2-3 times to verify accuracy only for the order to take 30 minutes and come out cold and incorrect. Unfortunately, today is the last day we are going to even attempt to eat at Steak n Shake. I will continue to visit the locations near my home in South County and Arnold as well as the St Charles location but I will not be back to any of the three locations mentioned above. I'm sure the sales figures for these stores reflect the trend of poor quality and slow service. You may want to consider new management starting at the district or perhaps even the regional level to correct these issues.

Steak and and shake commercial s are so *** and annoying , I will never eat there again. I might meet up with the dips that do them.they make no sense at all.

get some new ones that make sense or lose more customers.you had old ones that were super *** and annoying.did not think they could get worse. Fooled me.

Dirty floors, ceilings in restuarant

We ate at the Bellbrook Ohio tonight about 7 pm. Went in and sate near the back, could see into the kitchen and the floors there were really filthy, the sides of the refrigerator were spotted and had food on them. The area where we were, the floor also had food and dirt all over it. The food was not up to the usual standards we had come to love. NEVER seen any of your other locations in such a horrible condition. The little server smelled like cigarettes each time she came to our table, made me think they might have been smoking in the food prep area or never washed her hands after doing that. I despise the smell intensely.

Music

We like coming there in Holland Michigan, but the music is overpowering, and we are told it can not even be down a bit?? Keep that great server Natali there she is the best, But we would come more often if it was not for the music, can some thing be done? Sincerely: JOhn and Toni VanLuinen. So you want 100 hundred words? I can make up a story but this is all I wanted you to know.Again this is all I wanted you to know what a nonsense to make up so many w ords. So please do something withe music, it drives us away!

Very dissatisfied, unprofessional

first of all my family has been visiting s & s for the last 30 years all over the united states. we recently went to danville illinois to visit a cousin and decided to have lunch at steak n shake. when we walked in a woman named doris yelled across the resteraunt to sit where we wanted, (the sign says please wait!) she then came to the table talking to another server very rude. we didnt get our drinks until after our food came with hair in it! she said they were busy and we would have to deal with it and reordered my burger, (maybe 10 customers?) two other servers talking while we sat without drinks and dirty dishes.im very upset and will not be likely to return, i asked the mgr. when leaving what her name was and said i was very unhappy and was givin a discount

Very Slow Service that resulted in cold food

A friend and I went Friday to steak n shake, first of all it took a while just to get seated when we did we immediately gave our order as we knew what we wanted. It took at least 30 minutes or longer for us to get our burger and fries, and I had to ask about my vanilla shake. It came a few minutes later, most of the ice cream melted in it, and was very thin, it had been sitting a while. The cheeseburger was completely cold, and I didn't want to waste time with ordering another as my friend would have been nearly done with hers. I had also went several days before with my grandchildren, and again the food wasn't hot. I also talked to a church friend this last Sunday as she was in there the same day and was just leaving, and said the same that hert food was also cold and that she probably would avoid going in there again, which I will avoid as well in the furture, it's just ashame but it's plain to see that you need to hire more help.

My husband and I go to Steak N Shake at least 3 times a month to the same location on Rte 1 in Jenson Beach Florida. Each time I go I have noticed that the cleanliness is getting worst. The floor is never really clean the kick plate at the bar is disgusting and the bathroom walls and floors are filthy. I mentioned this at one time to a regional manager that happened to be their and the next week nothing had changes. You can not except your wait staff to clean at the end or each shift the way a cleaning crew from a cleaning company would clean, I know this because I have owed a restaurant myself. If there is no change in the near future we will stop going to one of our favorite places, for its value and pleasant wait staff. Thank you Marie Wallace

Steak n shake On West Wendover in Greensboro on Saturday August the 1st around 4 we entered and waited 10 min to sit.. Not even packed yet.. Then waited an additional 20 min still didn't get waited on not even to order drinks!! Finally as we're leaving after everyone else got waited on.. I ask to speak to a manager.. Waited 10 more minutes!! To say he apologize but it was shift changes.. That should've been explained to us how are we suppose to know!! No sense of urgency I'm really upset I was really prepared to eat your delicious hamburgers too
